Screening and Q&A: Meet The BFI Network’s Emerging Filmmakers

13 October 2023 4:30pm

Auditorium, Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts
General Admission: £8 / Festival Supporter: £12 / Concession: £5 / Student Ticket: £3

Calling all emerging film-makers! This is a rare opportunity to find out how you can take your creativity to a new level.

How do I get my film funded? How can I make a film on a low/ no budget? Where do I start with my script? How can I get my film shown at a festival?

In this Q&A session, Thomas Wightman from BFI Network x Film Hub South East will give practical advice on how the BFI can help emerging filmmakers can bring your project to the screen. He will be joined in conversation by BFI-funded writer/director Nicholas Finegan whose short film, Bingo Queens, starring Travis Alabanza, will be screened during the session.

Whether it’s writing the perfect funding application, smartening up your script or tips on running a low-budget set, this is a unique opportunity to have your questions about the financial and practical sides of filmmaking, answered from both the filmmaker’s and the funder’s perspective.

Alongside this event, there’ll be a brilliant short film showcase screening throughout the festival featuring groundbreaking new queer films made with support from BFI Network.

Tickets for this event start at just £3 and the film screenings are free throughout the festival.

This event and the films are also included as part of the Festival or Friday Pass.
