Tanya Byrne, Susie Day and Zoey Dixon
This panel explores the explosion of children’s books with queer themes in recent years, the backlash and its historical precedent. Chaired by young people’s diversity champion and award-winning, radical librarian Zoey Dixon, in conversation with children’s and YA authors Susie Day and Tanya Byrne, will centre the young reader and their experiences. They also discuss the challenges faced by writers, illustrators, and publishers of these stories.
The panel has been curated by students from the University of Sussex and the University of Brighton.
