There’s an open invitation to the dressing room to watch a transformation as a person becomes persona. Peak behind the curtain with world renowned international showgirl sensation Titty Kaka in conversation with award winning performance artist Harry Clayton-Wright.
Fresh from high kicking her way across the high seas, see how the sausage is made as Titty glues lashes, snorts glitter and chats all things drag as a platform for expression, the process of building worlds through performance and shares top tips and industry secrets from her upcoming book Delusions From A Decade In Drag (commissioned as part of Queer Amusements, published by Aunty Social).
Oliver Gregory is a pluridisciplinary artist, writer and creative director from Sheffield with experience in performing and producing live theatre, visual media content and fabricating stage costumes & headwear. Oliver started his drag career working at the internationally acclaimed show-bar; Funny Girls in Blackpool from July 2014 – May 2017. As a classically trained dancer originally from Sheffield, the soon-to-be international showgirl sensation – Miss Titty Kaka – was born!
In August 2017, Oliver relocated to Paris, France where he performed in drag as a featured artist at ‘MANKO Cabaret’ (2017-2018) on the Champs-Élysées for their third season. He appeared in short film: ’This Side of Paradise’ (2018) by award winning fashion photographer Ellen Von Unwerth (Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, RuPaul, Britney Spears) and was subsequently part of the same editorial for HUNGER magazine (Issue 14 – March 2018). He was also invited to be a featured act at the Vogue Paris Foundation Gala (July 2018) at the Palais Galliera, directed by Emmanuelle Alt (Editor-in-Chief, VOGUE Paris).
From December 2018 to March 2020 – Oliver traded high heels for the high seas and performed as a male production dancer with Princess Cruises. Since January 2022, Oliver has been performing onboard the award-winning Virgin Voyages fleet with Titty Kaka in the role of ‘The Diva’. So far, he has launched and brought two new ships into operation (Valiant Lady – 2022, Resilient Lady – 2023) and has been an integral part of the company’s entertainment offerings. Oliver wrote, designed sound and created video content for Virgin Voyages’ newest entertainment addition – ‘Around the World with The Diva’ (December 2023).
Oliver Gregory is a creative constantly expanding his skill-set with a passion to build and develop unhinged, spectacular and stimulating theatre.
Harry Clayton-Wright is a performance artist, theatre-maker and radical creator from Blackpool. Harry has worked with cabaret and circus ensembles, presented and self-produced his own solo theatre work, created short films, published zines, crafted durational performance and has been a commissioned artist on queer heritage projects across the country. Associate Artist with Brighton based NPO Marlborough Productions since 2016, Queer Amusements – a brand new multi-artform festival situated in Blackpool – marks a step up to a Creative Director role which is both a cumulative moment in his practice and a logical progression in a diverse and wide-ranging seventeen year career.
Harry has collaborated with GRAMMY nominated and UK Music Video Award winning director David Wilson (Christine and the Queens, Arctic Monkeys, Lady Gaga, Tame Impala) on their film Deep Clean (2019). This film, described by Little White Lies as “truly stunning… a work of legitimately radical power”, was part of the official selection for the Iris Prize, SXSW, NewFest in New York and Fringe! Queer Arts and Film Fest in London, before premiering online on NOWNESS in December 2019. Further film selections and screenings include: Berlin Music Video Awards, Sydney Underground Film Festival and Gay Propaganda for the Tom of Finland Foundation. Harry’s debut solo theatre show Sex Education (2017) won the LGBTQ award at Brighton Fringe Festival and was presented to critical acclaim with a Total Theatre Award nomination at Summerhall, Edinburgh Festival Fringe (2019) where Harry was named one of British Council’s Artists to Watch.
During lockdown in 2020, Harry founded You Otter Know, a queer zine featuring over twenty artists, in collaboration with independent publishing house Polari Press. After four digital releases, You Otter Know: The Bumper Edition was released in physical form in November 2021. Harry’s next project is a seaside spectacle titled Mr Blackpool, pivoting from genre and discipline as an end of the pier show at the end of the world.
All the way from Blackpool Promenade to Las Vegas, Butlins Skegness to the West End, San Francisco to Sydney Festival, Harry Clayton-Wright is an artist who never stands still and has built a career creating interesting, exciting and provocative work.
About Queer Amusements
Queer Amusements is a new queer multi-artform festival taking place in Blackpool from February to September 2024. Showcasing art, performance, events and workshops across the mediums of film, literature, visual and performance art, craft, dance and drag. Commissioned by Marlborough Productions as part of New Queers on the Block, Aunty Social and supported using public funding by Arts Council England.
